Toronipa Beach in Soropia District, Southeast Sulawesi Province


A wondrous beach lies in Soropia District and it is part of South Sulawesi Province’s best tourist attractions. The name is Toronipa, which is located in Toronipa Village. This marine tourism is located in Tanjung Toronipa, formerly a part of Kendari City, but after the expansion area, this place goes into Konawe Regency. Despite lacking of management, the beach offers great features to visitors like a beautiful landscape, sea scenery, shady trees, and calm waves. All of these things attract both locals and outsiders who come with different purposes.

The Nuance
Toronipa Beach has brownish sand with a soft texture and clean environment. That means no trash is scattered in this area. However, the sand appears white sometimes. Next, it is the size of the beach. The shoreline has the length about 4 km. What you can see is only the beauty of nature with gusty wind and warm temperature. In the back, there are trees and they create a shady area for resting. When it comes to the water, it is calm and clear. This explains why most tourists swim and play in the water when spending time at the beach.

Exploring Toronipa Beach
So, why is the name? Toronipa Beach is derived from Bugis Language, which means the nipa tree. No wonder, you can see them near to the main gate of the beach. They look so beautiful surrounded by stunning nature scenery, waves, and white sand. All of them combine into a wondrous landscape and become perfect objects for photography. Not to mention the shorelines feature a formation of coconut trees, which create a comfortable and refreshing atmosphere. Sitting under those trees would definitely soothing.

Some parts of the seawater are shallow, which is about 1 meter. As long as you only play in the nearby water, you will be safe. Apart from swimming, tourists can do many other things like witnessing a sunset. Thanks to the strategic location of Toronipa Beach, you are able to witness the sun views perfectly. Also, you need to come to the beach during the low tide, as the seawater becomes quite safe and comfortable for swimming. Even kids are allowed to play in the water as long as they get an outstanding supervision from the parents.

Toronipa Beach also features numerous types of facilities and accommodations, including gazebos, local eateries, and vendors. Some locals even come to the beach during holidays and sell delicious snacks such as Pokea and clams skewer. That means you need to carry some money in order to enjoy them all.

How to Get There
It is easy to reach Toronipa Beach, as you only need to head to Kendari City. For those who live in Jakarta, take an airplane from Soekarno-Hatta Airport to Haluoleo Airport in Kendari. From there, take a taxi to Soropia District and head to Toronipa Village. This trip takes about 2 hours and the distance is 80 km. It can be faster if you take Poros Unaaha-Pondidaha Street.
