Pero Beach in Southwest Sumba Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province

Visiting exotic beaches of East Nusa Tenggara Province is worth a thousand of experiences. Well, as for the reference, there is Pero Beach of Southwest Sumba Regency. This one is considered a hidden beauty due to its unpopularity and secluded location, though. As the name suggests, the beach is located in Pero Kodi Village and it belongs to Kodi Sub-District. Even though it is not as famous as Walakiri or Puru Kambera Beach, it is worth to enjoy a beautiful sunset and witness its majestic waves! No wonder, some people take advantage of the site in order to enjoy surfing and various other water sports.

The Nuance
One thing that makes Pero Beach popular is definitely its big and long waves. This explains why many passionate surfers (especially professionals) often come to the site to satisfy their hobby. Aside from the waves, the beach is known for light brown sand with its super soft texture. Somehow, the shoreline looks similar to a “Gosong” or a sand island. In the horizon, tourists can see dense trees with various types of plants as well. Another significant feature is that the beach has a flawless sunset for tourists to enjoy in the afternoon.

Exploring Pero Beach
So, what tourists can do in Pero Beach? The first recommended thing to do is to enjoy beach walking. It is because the sand looks so exotic and feels so comfortable on feet! Even though tourists walk on it at noon, they won’t feel a thing due to the soothing sensation of the sand. What they should pay attention is only the weather, which is not recommended to come during the rainy season. The rain may ruin the fun of beach walking, after all.

The next popular thing to do in Pero Beach is indeed surfing. As mentioned before, the beach features wonderful waves with their strong current. That means professionals and passionate surfers are able to enjoy the activity to their heart’s content regardless of the time of visit. On the other hand, the waves are not suitable for beginners or those who don’t have enough experience and skills. Another important consideration is that tourists must carry their own surfing board and other equipment.

What is more? Another interesting thing to do in Pero Beach is to watch local fishermen’s activity. It is because there is a fishermen pier located in the east part of the beach, where tourists can visit as well. Not to mention visitors can buy fresh fishes and cook them later! Not only fishes, the beach is famous for its grilled octopuses as well. So, do not miss the chance to try the seafood!
