An Exotic Uninhabited Island Rich in Fish

Pulau Dua or known as Miossu Island is one of the exotic marine destinations in Tambrauw, West Papua. Pulau Dua, apart from as a marine park, is also considered the most historic place in Tambrauw. This island records the beliefs that are now embraced by more than 90 percent of the people in the district.

Long ago, in the center of the island, stood an ancient Christian church. The building is classic and the interior contains scrap metal. But the church was torn apart by World War II. At that time, the Allied battle broke out the Japanese defenses in the West Papua region. Pulau Dua was also affected. People who used to live around the church were evacuated to Biak Island. After that, Pulau Dua was empty for a dozen years. When the people returned, the church was found to be unmarked. The community also did not stay long on Pulau Dua. They choose to cross to live on the mainland coast of West Papua, such as in the Sausapor District. Because, on Pulau Dua, there are no plants that can be cultivated.

Now people only visit Dua Island to hold a grand worship every August. Six years ago, they celebrated 100 years of the entry of Evangelical Christianity in Tambrauw. The local government is working on rebuilding the monument as a historical site. Even though it is located far in the hull of the island, the Yonas monument has the potential to attract tourists who like to hear historical stories. In addition to doing historical tours, tourists can also dive to see ships and planes that were sunk during World War II.

Besides being able to learn history, on Pulau Dua, tourists can enjoy white sand beaches with views of the sea off the blue Pacific Ocean. In the sea, fishermen used to fish with spears. Pulau Dua is the best place to fish in Tambrauw.

Tourists who come to Pulau Dua will generally be amazed by its beauty. The color of the sand is like crystal, so soft. Along with that, tourists can also enjoy clear sea water and graded turquoise, dark blue and light blue. Snorkeling is also one of the attractions offered there. Anomen, corals, and fish are very diverse. The beauty of the sea is increasingly felt when the sea is decorated with colorful fishes. There are also fish that haven't even been seen anywhere else. The fish's body is filled with green, blue, red, and yellow patches.

The various kinds of beautiful beaches are one of the attractions of Tambrauw that always attract visitors. The beaches, for example, are Pasir Timbul Beach, Tanjung Kasuari Beach, Werur Beach, Dofior, and many others.

How to get there?
To get to Pulau Dua, tourists must rent a speed boat from Sausapor Harbor in the temporary capital of Sausapor. Travel time is about 1 hour. You can also take a land route from Sausapor to Werbes District, then ride a jhonson or traditional boat with a travel time of 30 minutes.
