The Uniqueness Surowono Cave in Pare, Kediri

 

Surowono cave is a unique cave or underground alley in which is flowing of a river where the water is very clear. Surowono cave is located in Canggu village, Pare district, Kediri regency, which is supposedly a canal system, part of Surowono temple, which has existed since era Kediri kingdom.

The hole into the Surowono cave is in a well that was about 5 feet below ground level with a pool of clear water as high as the stomach. At the top there is some bamboo trees that shaded the entrance to the Surowono cave.

Surowono cave is very narrow, and only one person can pass at a time by walking hand in hand.

Entering the first alley Surowono cave, the visitors can still walk upright in the hallway, but continues on the second alley Surowono cave, the visitors must walk a way to squat because the cave ceiling is low.

Entering the third alley Surowono cave, the visitors must walk while sitting, and on the fourth hole Surowono cave the visitors must crawl or swim. The distance between the wellbore Surowono cave is between 50-60 meters.
