Uter Lake
Behind the dense forest of Papua, hidden a beautiful icon that really spoils the eye. The golden icon is Lake Uter Maybrat, West Papua, which is located in the middle of a dense forest in Aitinyo District. This lake is still natural until now where the water is very clear, spoiling visitors not to want to go home because they want to enjoy its beauty.
The natural beauty of Lake Uter, which is surrounded by groves of trees, still keeps the water clean and clear because it has not been exposed to garbage and soil pollution. In fact, you could say that Lake Uter is the cleanest lake in Indonesia.
Lake Uter has formed from a basin that joins similar ponds next to it, and surrounded by hills that thick with trees and greenery. Next to it are lined limestone hills (carts) that stick out. These limestone hills are a common morphological type in Maybrat region. This limestone hill is usually overgrown with vegetation of small trees and unique grass which in Maybrat language is called "Bomira".
You will be amazed when you surround this Uter lake. It's really beautiful to go around by boat while enjoying the clarity of the water that spoils the eyes. The clarity of Lake Uter, allows the eye to see through to the bottom of the lake which is decorated with various types of fish species. Never feel like going home if you visit one of the natural beauties of Maybrat people. It feels cold and cool, when you want to enjoy the clarity of this lake while swimming. This is an extraordinary tourist destination in Maybrat Regency. Forget to go home when you dive inside.
How to get there?
To get to the location of Lake Uter, you have to go through a tough and tiring journey. Maybrath Regency itself is a new regency resulting from the division of Sorong Regency. If you come from Sorong city, it will take 5 hours to travel. However, if you come from Kambuaya Airport, which is a new airport, the trip is only 1 hour away.
After traveling for about 1 hour or about 30 kilometers from Kambuaya airport, you will arrive at Kampung Sris. A village in Aitinyo District where Lake Uter settled. This village consists of a collection of stone houses with tin roofs and riben glass windows. Some are classified as modern houses. There are schools, churches and healthy center in this village. All of them are of the permanent building type. Kampung Sris is generally inhabited by indigenous Maybrat people with certain clans (fam).
