Amban Beach


Amban Beach is a beach in West Papua, precisely in Manokwari regency. There is not much sand on this beach, instead there are only large and rather sharp rocks. Use special shoes to explore nature so that your feet don't hurt and don't slip while walking. Usually there are moss or other marine plants attached to these rocks.

Although Amban Beach has black sand, the charm of this beach is not inferior to other white sand beaches. Amban Beach is about one kilometer long and faces the Pacific Ocean. This beach has waves up to two meters high and is suitable for surfing. However, if you want to try to beat the waves on this beach, you have to bring your own surfing equipment because there are no surfing equipment rental facilities.

This beach also has a wide stretch of beach, structured fine sand (black quartz), resembling the sand structure on Aipiri Beach. The beautiful natural panorama of Amban beach presents a romantic atmosphere just before sunrise or sunset. You can also enjoy the beautiful panorama of this beach which is even more enchanting at sunset. Like a beautiful natural painting, you can see it on this Amban Beach. For you sunset hunters, you must include this beach in your travel list while in Manokwari. This beach is also usually a nesting habitat for turtles during the nesting season.

The best time to visit this beach is in the afternoon until late at night. The reason is, in the afternoon until late at night, you will see a very exotic sunset. The transportation to Amban Beach is served by public transportation (taxi / rural transportation) which operates from the terminal in Manokwari city to Mandopi Village or Nuni Village. In addition, ojek services are also available at the bus stops around Anggori Village which are ready to take visitors to Amban Beach.

How to get there?
The route to this beach is very easy, you only have to go to Manokwari Regency and it is located in the center of the city. Then direct your vehicle towards Jalan Pahlawan, along Jalan Trikora Wosi, Jalan Drs. Esau Sesa. Then head to Jl. Trikora Taman Ria, enter the Manokwari road and arrive at Ambon beach.

From the city center of Manokwari to this beach, the travel time using a 4-wheeled vehicle is only about 30 minutes, at most 45 minutes. To reach this beach, visitors can go through 2 routes, first and the closest route is through the University of Papua (UNIPA) Amban campus or through another route that some distance away, through the main ring road outside Manokwari city. The main ring road outside of Manokwari city passes several tourist destinations: White Sand Beach, Sau Abbas Abasi Beach, Fish Calling place in Bakaro village, Aipiri Beach, and Gunung Meja Tourism Forest. Amban Beach is located about 8 km from Manokwari city and if you start your journey from White Sand Beach, you still need to cover about 23.3 km.
