Wasur National Park

This national park has many different kinds of animals, including wallabies, musamus (giant ant houses), and birds of paradise. The national park is in the southeastern part of South Papua Province, in Merauke Regency. This area has the largest wet savanna forest in Indonesia and even in Asia. The natural environment of Wasur National Park is home to a wide variety of plants and animals.
Wasur National Park is made up of three districts: Sota, Naukenjerai, and Merauke. Wasur National Park is close to the center of Merauke. It is only about 20 minutes away.
The plants there include rare and protected species, as well as native species and species from nearby countries. The area around Wasur National Park has many types of plants, including eucalyptus, tancang, api-api, and ketapang. There are also other plants, such as sago (Metroxylon sagu), bamboo, tropical banksia, acacia, golden guinea tree or red beech, pandanus, Rafflesia flower, various types of ferns, and various types of orchids.
