Dofior Beach

Sorong, a city on the island of Papua, has long been a port city, due to its strategic location on the island nicknamed the Bird's Head. The Sorong area is surrounded by various potential natural resources for trading commodities such as eucalyptus, marine products and others. The administrative Sorong city was formed in 1996, and became a separate regional city in 1999, and was separated from Sorong Regency in 2000.

One of the most appropriate places in Sorong to enjoy the sunset is Dofior Beach or often called the Berlin Wall Beach. Why is it called like that? Because along the coast, exactly 1 km stretches on the beach, there is a 1.5 m high wall as a barrier to sea water and highways. When you visit the Berlin Wall, you will enjoy the view of Dofior Beach. You can still enjoy the beauty of the beach view even though it is blocked by the 1 meter high Berlin Wall.

Due to the frequent inflow of sea water, especially when the tide is on the highway, which is not far from the sea, a wall called the Berlin Wall was built. The sea at Dofior Beach does have quite large sea waves. Dofior Beach is located not far from the center of Sorong City, only about 20 minutes from the city center by four-wheeled vehicle.

The sunset in this place is really beautiful. It is golden in color, and its golden shadow has reflected in the blue sea water. Then soon the sun seemed to sink into the vast ocean.

Fresh seafood tent stalls only open after dusk. Not only fresh, a variety of seafood served such as crab, fish, or squid, all of them are large. Satisfied with enjoying the sunset and fresh seafood, if you want to buy souvenirs of Papuan handicrafts, there is a small shop around the tent stall. So we don't need to be confused looking for souvenirs before going home later.

If you want to enjoy the view on the Berlin Wall Beach or Dofior Beach every day, there is also an inn on the beach, which is located only 300 m from the Berlin Wall. Meanwhile, if you choose lodging in the city center, you have to rent a car or motorbike to go to the Berlin Wall Beach. To enter the beach area, you only charged a parking fee, but be wary of the prices of food and drinks and handicrafts in this area, because the prices are often very expensive.
