Berlin Wall in Sorong

The name of this tourist spot is inspired by the name of a place in Germany where the wall separates between two regions, East Germany and West Germany. However, it is different with the Berlin Wall in Sorong City because it separates the beach area from the highway.

The Dofior Beach area, better known as the Berlin wall, is the center of crowds and favorite entertainment for the people of Sorong city. This beach called as Berlin wall not because it has a wall like in Germany, but because of the existence of a 1.5 meter high wall that stretches along the coast for 1 kilometer. This wall is a barrier between the beach and the highway and serves as a barrier to sea water so as not to enter the highway area.

As the evening progresses, Berlin Wall area more crowded by people visiting. They sit back on the walls to enjoy the sunset. After the sky darkened, it began to be crowded with visitors ordering food for dinner. Some of them ordered meals to enjoyed in groups, there were also those who simply ordered sarabba (local beverage) to warm the body while joking with friends.

As the night progresses, the Berlin Wall area gets busier. The sparkling lights reflected their light in the sea water which continued to gently lapping. The sound of the boisterous waves rumbling completes the romantic atmosphere. More food vendors are opening their stalls. Starting from food stalls, snack vendors, to retail gasoline vendors lined up neatly along the Berlin wall that borders the highway. More people came and began to entertain themselves with the atmosphere of the Berlin Wall, especially on weekend nights. The crowd of this wall will continue to last until past midnight.

How to get there?
If you stay at a hotel near Dominique Edward Osok Airport, you can take the yellow angkot (public transportation), which the locals call a taxi, with the route H to the opposite side of Maranatha Church. Then you can take an angkot route A line up in front of the Berlin Wall.
