While exploring Mamuju City (the capital of West Sulawesi Province), it is recommended to visit a unique beach called Lapeo. The location is in Campalagian Sub-District and it belongs to Polewali Mandar Regency. To be exact, it is located in Baqbatoa Village. The good thing is the beach is quite noticeable due to the strategic location. It even resides near to Nurul Taubah Mosque which is built by Imam Lapeo. Moreover, the locals have built a big signboard located near to the entrance of the beach. For the information, the beach was once called Pasir Asin Beach
On the way to Lapeo Beach, tourists may see a distinct view especially the traditional houses of Mandar Tribe. When getting near to the beach, several mangroves and embankments are seen beautifully. Aside from exploring the nearby embankments, visitors can also see other stunning objects in Lapeo Beach. For example, a flock of birds is often seen near to the shoreline. The locals call them Tammeroqdoq! These birds have the shape which is similar to a stork and they indeed become a perfect object for photography. Do not forget the fact that the beach also comes with several mangroves on where the birds gather.
The next allure in Lapeo Beach is the locals’ presence. These people often come to the beach in the afternoon in order to enjoy various fun activities like swimming, playing football, and beach walking. They make the beach merrier, without a doubt. How to Get There
The first destination is Mamuju City and the best way to get there is by airplane. From Jakarta City, tourists only need to take an airplane at Soekarno – Hatta International Airport and head to Tampa Padang Airport. This may take about 4 hours and 35 minutes, actually. Once they arrive at Mamuju, they can simply head to Baqbatoa Village at Campalagian Sub-District where the beach resides. The distance is 187 km, so this long trip takes around 4 hours and 15 minutes. It can be faster if tourists take Poros Majene – Mamuju Street, though.
