Orangutan Tanjung Putting Tour (4 Days/ 3 Nights)
Tanjung Puting is well-known for orangutan as a protected nature habitat; and Camp Leaky was once an orangutan preservation centre, now is a center study of orangutan.
Day 1: Arrival – Kumai – Tanjung Puting National Park
Pick-up at Airport of Pangkalan Bun then transfer to Kumai port by car. Transfer in to Pangkalan Bun National Park. Visit first feeding station, Tanjung Harapan, and see how the call of the orangutans. Try to spot wild orangutans swinging through the thick and lush vegetation. The park is also the haven for over 220 species of birds.
Overnight on boat.
Day 2: Tanjung Puting National Park
After breakfast, depart to the second feeding station, Pondok Tanguii, which is also a rehabilitation centre for ex-captive orangutans located in the park which has daily feeds of the apes. As you cruise down through the jungle, you will be transported to another world, a world far beyond the hustle and bustle of city life. Relax on board your boat and take in the sights of monkeys jumping from tree to tree. The park is home to around 8 species of monkeys including the very distinctive proboscix monkey. One of the main attractions of Tanjung Puting is Camp Leakey, once the orangutan preservation centre. The camp was founded in 1971 as a haven for orangutans rescued from domestic capture. Overnight at Rimba ecolodge
Day 3: Tanjung Puting National Park – Kumai – Pangkalan Bun
After breakfast, visit Sei Sekonyer village. The villagers are friendly and very welcome, they often offer visitors to follow their activities. Learn to wear traditional powder to prevent of getting sunburn.
Then leave the National Park area and visit Istana Kuning (Yellow Palace) in Pangkalan Bun, see the Longhouse called “Rumah Betan” and sightseeing around local arcade.
Day 4: Pangkalan Bun – Departure
After breakfast, pick-up for transfer out to Pangkalan Bun airport for your next destination.
