South Papua


The capital of South Papua is Merauke Regency, which is in the Integrated Independent City of Salor. It is located in the Kurik district, about 60 km from Merauke. The regencies in South Papua are Mappi Regency, Asmat Regency (with its capital in Agats), and Boven Digoel Regency.

South Papua is in a lowland area that is next to Papua New Guinea. It has many swamps and large rivers, such as the Digul and Maro.
