The islands of Nias, North Sumatra, are well known for their exotic beaches and waves. One of these beaches is located in Gunungsitoli Town or 15 km north of the city center. The distance from the capital of Gunungsitoli is about 25 minutes. The name of this beach is "Hoya". Hoya Beach is located in the district of North Gunungsitoli. This beach is also often called the twin of Kuta Beach. Hoya Beach has coastline of approximately 1,500 meters long and there is along the beautifully lined coast mesmerize hundreds of pine trees. Besides on that, Hoya Beach also has a clear water, so it can be seen up to the bottom as deep as 8 meters.

For local tourists who live in Nias, heading to this beach can use two-wheeled vehicles and four wheels. While for tourists who lives outside the Nias Islands, especially from Medan, tourists can go to Hoya Beach by sea transportation with an 8-9 hour travel time using Sibolga - Gunungsitoli route, which is serviced daily by ferry boat. Pelni boat also serves periodically route of Tanjung Priok - Padang route - Gunungsitoli. In addition to land and sea, tourists can also use air transportation from Medan to Kuala Namu Airport - Binaka (Gunungsitoli). The flight is served by Garuda Indonesia and Wings Air.

Head Department of Tourism and Culture in Gunungsitoli , Yasokhi T Harefa admitted that his staffs had been doing the arrangement of a number of tourist destinations in the town of Gunungsitoli. "Hoya Beach was not less beautiful than any other beaches in Nias Islands. Besides the exotic and charming, tourists can enjoy the beautiful sunrise in Hoya Beach," said Yasokhi.

Tourism and Culture Office of Gunungsitoli City in the next budget year 2017 plans to allocate a budget to organize the Hoya Beach for tourists to stay linger in this place. Therefore, it takes the cooperation between the government and the managers in arranging the Hoya Beach, especially starting the entrance and cleaning garbage on the beach to provide comfort for visitors.
