Raung is one of the most active volcanoes on the island of Java. Geographically, Raung Mountain is located in three districts of Banyuwangi, Jember and Bondowoso. This Mountain is precisely located on the eastern tip of Java and it has 3,332 m above sea level and has a caldera with a depth of 500 meters. Mount Raung is an active volcano and always emits smoke or even flames occasionally. The largest eruption occurred in 1638. This exotic mountain can be clearly seen from Bali, exactly when see from Lovina, Singaraja.

Raung Mountain is part of Ijen Mountain complex where there are mountains of Pendil, Rante Mountain, Mount Merapi and Ijen crater. For those who want to climb up Raung, there are several climbing route that can be achieved. The route from Bondowoso – Sumber Wringin is the most frequently chosen route. Meanwhile, the route from Banyuwangi - Bajulmati is also passable but very rarely passed, because it has sufficient terrain and steep uphill.
