In Indonesian, Batu Kapal means 'The Rock boat' because, from afar the little island looks like a big ship. The rocks belong to a rocky outcrop off the north side of Lembeh Island. If you are keen to see some big fish, this is the place to be in north Sulawesi: changing currents bring goodies and give the experienced divers a real adventure! Huge fish density, with some dog-tooth tunas, barracudas, giant trevallies and also turtles, grey reef sharks and white-tipped reef sharks, or eagle rays.

These are a set of pinnacles off the Northern tip of Lembeh Island. This is the best big fish dive in North Sulawesi, but severe multi-directional currents prevent all but only the most experienced divers from venturing here. The density of schooling fish is staggering, with larger species such as dogtooth Tuna, Barracuda, big-eyed Jacks, giant Trevally and rainbow Runner well represented.

Turtles, White tip and Grey reef Sharks as well as Eagle Rays are also common. Even Silver tip and Whale Sharks have been spotted here by the lucky few. Great hard and soft corals; with a lot of yellow tube corals (Tubastrea).
There are some small but very beautiful coral reefs and at the northern tip at Batu Kapal the currents attract large pelagics like mackerels and sharks. There are also four beautifully covered wrecks, two of them large and all within limits for recreational diving. This area is not a national marine park unfortunately. Water temperatures can sometimes be a bit cold, in July-August it can be until 26 °C, the other months around 28 °C.
