Located close to the Krakatau volcano,Sebuku Island is one of the largest islands in the Sunda Strait. Sebuku Island has the panoramic view of sandy white beaches against gentle rolling waves of the turquoise sea and the backdrop of a smoking volcano in the distance are a feast for the eyes. Sebuku Island is a popular destination for seaside adventures as well as a relaxing stop for those exploring the Lampung Bay at the most southern end of the island of Sumatra.

Sebuku Island covers just about 18 square kilometers of uninhabited beaut, and becomes an ideal spot to rest and recharge while enveloped by cool sea breeze and magnificent surroundings. Date back to many years ago, the island was used as a plantation area and was well known as a producer of Copra.

While visiting Sebuku Island, we can also visit the other sister island that located near to Sebuku, which is Sebesi Island. Sebesi Island measuring about 16 square kilometers, and it is a slightly smaller island and is the usual spot for travellers touring Lampung Bay to dock to find accommodations.

For those of you who want to know Krakatau closer, then Sebesi Island is the ideal place for observing the activity of Mount Anak Krakatau. Sebesi island with an area of 1600 hectares is the closest island to Krakatau. The island is also one of the most visited tourism sites in Lampung, with facilities available; Guest Houses and cottages located between Sebesi island and Canti.

How to get there
The closest Airport to reach the location is the Raden Inten II Airport in the city of Bandar Lampung. This is a domestic only airport, serving Jakarta, Bandung and Batam.
Once in Lampung, make your way by road to Dermaga Canti (Canti Pier), which is located in Kalianda in South Lampung. From here, take a speed boat or ferry to Sebuku or Sebesi Island, which will take about an hour.

Alternatively, you may charter a boat from small ports in West Java such as at Anyer and Carita. The journey from Java will take approximately 2 hours, depending on the state of the waters at the time. Anyer and Carita are located about 3 hours northwest of Jakarta, capital city of Indonesia.
