Betung Kerihun National Park (TNBK; Taman Nasional Betung Kerihun), the largest conservation area in West Kalimantan province, is situated in Kapuas Hulu Regency with a total area of about 800,000 hectares. Hilly and mountainous topography and the expanse of hundreds of rivers are prominent characteristics of BKNP in addition to its incredible biodiversity.

Because of the unique landscape and high biodiversity, BKNP has several attractive and challenging tourist destinations. Furthermore, opportunities for researchers to explore the potential of biodiversity or investigate specific topics (e.g. anthropology and sociology) in BKNP or around the area are still widely open.
