Toyolawa beach is one of the beaches are quite popular on the island of Nias Island, precisely located in Hiligawolo village, Lahewa district, Nias Utara regency of North Sumatra Province. The distance is about two hours drive from Mount Sitoli. Toyolawa beach is the most northern beach on the west coast of Nias Utara. At 3800 meters it is also the longest beach in the district, and the northern section of an 8 kilometres long beautiful uninterrupted beach consisting of Toyolawa, Ambukha, Vino and Soroma Asi beaches. The beach is between 50 to 100 meters wide depending on the tide. Towards the north end, it starts to curve and ends at a small rocky headland. Most of the beach is exposed with large waves, but the northern end is relatively protected as a result of this small headland. Locals sometimes launch small boats from here. Two Japanese bunkers from WW II covering this area of the beach is further indication that this is a good landing site. Towards the northern end of the beach the vegetation is dominated by tall coconut trees. Toyolawa and the adjacent land is a commercial coconut plantation. Just north of the beach is a small settlement where the plantation workers and their families live.

Access: Not far from Lahewa, and the road is usually good for both car and motorbike, except after heavy rains. From Lahewa drive out of town in a northerly direction. Follow this road for 4 kilometers until reaching Hiligawölö village. Pass through the gates of the coconut plantations and continue on an unsurfaced road for another 2 kilometres until reaching the beach.
