Kalibaru is a small town (sub district) in western Banyuwangi Regency. It surrounds by ranges of hills in the west and south, while in the north is bordered by Mount Raung .At elevation of 428 m above sea level, Kalibaru has nice cool climate. Coffee plantation can be found in Kalibaru and its surroundings, either owned by individuals, private company or state owned plantation. It has relatively high averages rainfall per year, which makes this area greener than any other area in Banyuwangi regency.

Kalibaru is located in the mid of tourism route of Java – Bali which make it as the best place to stop overnight, It’s a pity if you stay but do nothings in that beautiful place. Many activities can be done in Kalibaru such as educational tour like (Plantation tour, Village tour), Adventure tour (Sukamade Tour, Alas Purwo Tour, Ijen Crater Tour) or Outbound Activities

Kalibaru has been known as tourist destination for decades. Margo Utomo Agro Resort formerly Margo Utomo Home stay/Margo Utomo 1 and Margo Utomo Hill View Cottages formerly Margo Utomo Cottages/Margo Utomo 2 are resort which provide these facilities and services. These tour could be the memorable one for tourist either foreign or domestic ones.

It’s easy to get to Kalibaru by any public transportation. Almost any trains scheduled to stop at Kalibaru Train Station (Mutiara Timur - Express train from Banyuwangi to Surabaya , Sritanjung - Economy Class train from Banyuwangi to Jogjakarta,Probowangi - Economy Class train from Banyuwangi to Probolinggo,Tawang Alun - Economy Class train from Banyuwangi to Malang, Pandanwangi - Economy Class train from Banyuwangi - Kalibaru etc).
Even though, there is no bus terminals in town, bus can easily stop on the highway near traditional market or trains station.
As a town with many Europeans tourists on high season June - September , there is no big bank or ATM Machine in town which make the tourists easy to get cash. So any visitors have prepared themselves with enough cash. The closest ATM Machine is about 23 km away ( in GENTENG subdistrict)

Kalibaru is well known for its potential home industries such as Tin smith and “Tahu” or bean curd. Tourists can explore more about villagers activities by making tours with different transportations (Car,Dokar (Horse-Drawn-Cart)) or even walking
