Segara Anak in Rinjani Mount give its blessing to the surrounding community. In addition to providing water for the rice field, farm, and the needs of everyday society, Rinjani is also presenting the charm of the waterfalls for visitors and the people of Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.

Of the 13 waterfalls that rely on the Segara Anak water, three of which are located so close to water sources, namely Sindang Gila, Kelep Tiu, and Betara lap. Three locations within 89 miles or take 2.5 hours drive from Mataram.

Water is squeezed in between the roots of large trees and vines in the ground promising peace nan presence of a cool feeling. Unfortunately, only two can be visited freely by visitors, Gila and Tiu Sindang Kelep.

Waterfall Betara lap too prone to pass. Sri Made (50), a local tour guide, do not recommend it because the road leading to it have covered a large tree. In addition, visitors also need a rope to climb the wall and the ability to see the waterfall height was estimated to be approximately 500 meters.

Sindang Gila or so-called Gila Spring is the first waterfall that can be visited from the gate Senaru this tourist area. After paying Rp 5,000 per person as the price of admission, visitors are greeted hundreds of stairs down. Winding road to the top of Rinjani background in the south became the scene early in the course. Go deeper about 200 meters, lowland tropical forest began to dominate the way to Gila Sindang. From a distance, the swift Sindang Gila began to appear.

About 15 minutes climbing the path, visitors arrive at Sindang Gila. This waterfall is the highest among the other three in the area of Mount Rinjani National Park. 35 meter high waterfall also has three levels of hardware before it hits rock bottom.

There are many versions of the story behind the naming Sindang Gila. Local people called it that because of this waterfall comes from on high and very heavy flow of water. It is as if a waterfall is like a lion mad that lowers the water blindly.

Another story is a myth created by the local community that there is a lion keeper around the waterfall. Another objective was to protect this area from damage caused by human activities. Sindang Gila Waterfall is also believed to cure rheumatism society.

Many surprises

Roberto Guindolin (45), visitors from Trevisio, Italy, says satisfied with Sindang Gila Waterfall panorama. He compared it with Waterfall Marmore in Perugia, Italy. This waterfall is very high, tucked and squeezed in between the grove of trees.

"What is lacking is the completeness of the supporting infrastructure, such as rest areas and toilets," he said.

Satisfied with the Gila Sindang, proceed to the next waterfall, Tiu Kelep. The path of the volcanic rock and decorated with large wooden fallen exotic complement. Too bad if it is not documented with a camera. Visitors also have a river full of boulders and clear water can be drunk directly. Feeling tired and down a small hill to climb as high as 35 meters is paid off when eyes are on the outpouring of water in sight.

In Sasak language, tiu interpreted as a vortex. The flood water valve is long gone. As the name implies, Tiu Kelep unprotected cliffs. Unlike with Gila Sindang who only had a shallow pond, visitors can swim in Tiu Kelep will.

With a depth of about 1 meter, Tiu Kelep pool water safe enough for visitors at home and abroad. Another specialty is the reflection of water that forms around the drizzling rain.

Shaped by the geographical basin, the water that falls trapped and bounces back into the air like rain. If lucky, the water is bouncing it will refract sunlight to form a colorful rainbow.

Delmas (29), visitors from Marseille, France, who came with four members of his family, said Tiu Kelep satisfied with panoramic views. The reason, the beauty of the story that he got from his colleagues he met at Tiu Kelep. The sensation of the color of the rainbow said bias into a very beautiful moment.

Surprises do not stop there. Pursue the way home, visitors can pass through the alternative pathway of irrigation water channels built by local residents.

Alley along the 200-meter water with a height of about 2 meters in width is only 1 meter was constructed Sasak traditional elders. Its main purpose is water from irrigation canals Tiu Kelep to irrigate hundreds of acres of rice fields Senaru residents.

"CERAM is also passing in the hallway because the light only comes from the exhaust holes of land a distance of 10 meters-15 meters. However, the water flowing beneath our feet gives a different sensation, "Delmas said.

Waiting for the touch

Unfortunately, this area still needs a touch of local government. The reason, supporting infrastructure looks still far from feasible. For example, many of the missing banister stolen elements irresponsible. Not to mention the lack of toilets. Any less worthy resting place for tourists because there is no special place to enjoy the waterfall. This makes the tourists do not want to linger to enjoy the area.

Village Chief Senaru Akria Buana Raden said the new infrastructure will seek to North Lombok regency government and the Government of West Nusa Tenggara Province. The goal, increasing the number of visits reached 8,000 people in 2010.

If the infrastructure and the promotion could be improved, the number of visitors could be more. That is, could provide greater economic value to society.
