Notice Padang has no temple at all. At that time the tribe Tjiang and Tjoan Tjioe come to trade (trade) in the city of Padang. Later, the city was founded Temple of Kwan Im (Kwan Im Teng) in 1861 with the approval of King Ham Hong Sien Yu Taun.

Initially Kwan Im Teng is a building of wood, the roof of thatch / zinc. Because of negligence pastor Sae Kong, there was a fire so that Kwan Im temple to ashes.

During the Goan Hoat Lie to captain, along with Lieutenant and Lieutenant Mo Soen Liem Bian Ek Lie agree to rebuild the Temple of Kwan Im hitherto named Hien See Kiong. There is a memorial stone in the temple that was founded by Captain Lie Goan Hoat so that people can find out how the origins of this Kiong Temple See Hien.
