Popular by the traditional art of Reog, Ponorogo is regency in East Java that has direct border with Madiun, Magetan and Ngajuk in north, Pacitan in south, Pacitan and Wonogiri in west, Tulungagung and Trenggalek in east.

Geographically, the land of Ponorogo is divided in two sub-areas, which is high land and low land. That condition makes Ponorogo has good potential in case of tourism destination.

All the entire aspect in Ponorogo will be interestingly to be explored, either from the culture, industrial, nature, and pilgrim site and even culinary.

Coban Lawe

Coban Lawe, is one of the waterfalls that have not been exposed in the media that located in Ponorogo, exactly in the eastern site of Pulung districts, Pudak and Sooko sub-district. This waterfall is actually still green and untouched because of still genuine. The road to this location is still rocky so it is not easy to reach this location, but the difficulty of the terrain will be paid after we arrived at this location.

Ngebel Lake

It is called Ngebel Lake because it is in Ngebel subdistrict territory. It is located about 24 km to the north-east of Ponogoro, Ngebel Lake is in the slope of Wilis Mountain with 734 meter height on the sea and the temperature 22 to 32 celsius. By the wide of surface about 1.5 km, Ngebel lake is surrounded by the road along 5 km. This lake has an amazing panorama, cool air with the maiden nature condition that kept one million potentials to be dug up. We also could meet various fruits like: durian, mangosteens, pundung, etc.

Pletuk Waterfall

Pletuk Waterfall or also known as Coban Temu has a height of about 30 m and above an altitude of 450 meters above the sea with high intensity rainfall. This area is surrounded by towering hills, and covered by number of plants.


Reog is a cultural art performing by Dance Theater that has a high cultural value. This traditional dance becomes the main identity for Ponorogo regency. Reog is conducted by a group of performers dance with various characters and characterization, the performance of Reog is always accompanying with some of gamelan players and singers who performed the song with the local language, called tembang Jawa or Java rhytm. Reog Ponorogo emerged as a form of magical ceremonies with local beliefs that would brought a thick aura of magic and mysticism. As the changing times, Reog Ponorogo is changed becoming a form of entertainment and theater folk art. Modern Reog is usually performed in several events such as weddings, circumcisions and national major holidays.
