The diverse flora and magnificent landscape is a must´s see for nature lovers and meltwater from the surrounding glaciers create constantly changing rushing torrents across the valley floor. We then move towards Gigjökull, where your driver will let out the throttle for some serious jeep action, including splashing through meltwater rivers, so fasten your seatbelt to experience the fun! Gigjökull glacier, which is a calf glacier of the infamous Eyjafjallajökull glacier-covered volcano which erupted in 2010.
During the eruption, millions of litres of melted ice from Gigjökull bursted down the mountainside causing massive destructive floods on its way to the Atlantic.
From Gigjökull we continue our tour to one of the country’s loveliest waterfalls, Seljalandsfoss. The sure-footed can walk behind the thundering cascade and perhaps discover the mythical pot of gold said to be hidden there!
Then we venture into a spectacular hidden canyon, with unique flora, green moss walls and a beautiful waterfall, where we stop for our picnic lunch. After lunch we can take a gentle hike to explore the valley, getting upfront and personal with Icelandic nature.
We then head back towards Reykjavík, arriving town before dinner time.
