Inside Langjökull Glacier and Ice Cave Tour from Reykjavik plus Thingvellir National Park, Hot Spring and Hraunfossar Waterfall
- Overview
Experience the dramatic and outrageous natural beauty of Iceland on this guided day trip to experience the best of Iceland’s nature. First go to Langjökull, the second largest glacier in Iceland, and walk into man-made ice tunnels and caves inside the glacier. In summer time, check out the incredible Thingvellir National Park to cap a memorable day in Icelandic nature. Iceland may be the land of trolls and fairies, but it also boasts some of the most dramatic nature on the planet. This guided day trip takes visitors on a ‘greatest hits’ of the country’s natural landmarks, hitting glaciers, waterfalls, thermal springs and natural parks.
Get picked up at your hotel in Reykjavik and head straight into nature. On the way to the glacier stop at Hraunfossar waterfall and take a rest for lunch (own expense).
On arrival at Langjökull, meet your professional guide and head inside the actual glacier aboard a modified glacier vehicle. Enter a man-made tunnel inside the glacier, nearly 4,000 feet (1,200 meters) above sea level, and wonder at the glowing blue hues as you explore the glacier's 1,650-foot (500-meter) corridors and caves on foot.
If your tour takes place in the summer (June to September), pass over the UNESCO-listed Thingvellir National Park and marvel at the fissure in the Earth's crust, where the European and North American tectonic plates slowly drift apart. Thingvellir is also one of the country’s most important cultural heritage sites, as it was here that Iceland’s first parliament was formed in 930 AD.
After a full day of exploring, your tour concludes with a drop-off back at your hotel.
