Salt Cathedral Tour
  • Overview

Our 5-hour shared tour visit these majestic monuments built inside the salt mines of Zipaquirá which has become the Colombia’s wonders, not only for its architectural and artistic designs but also by the different attractions that you will see and make your visit unforgettable. This tour does not included a guide from the beginning but inside Salt Cathedral you´ll find one.

The territory now occupied by Zipaquirá, a city where Gabriel García Márquez went to school, was an important center of trade in salt - vital to preserve food, before the arrival of the conquistadors. This mineral, the essence of the town (founded on July 18, 1600), is abundant in the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá, a religious sanctuary built in an underground salt mine.

You´ll know the process of salt forming, the dome and the experience of learning -a part- of a mining process. Enjoy an incredible light show that will make your day truly magical.

Also during the route to Zipaquirá you’ll appreciate the Sábana, characterized by beautiful landscapes.
