Freeport Scooter Tour and Crystal Beach Admission
- Overview
Explore Freeport by scooter, a great way to cover more ground than a bike tour but still enjoy being outside in the fresh island air. Follow a guide to some of Grand BahamaÂ’s top attractions, such as Mermaid Pond, the Lucaya Lighthouse and Hawksbill Creek. See local settlements, and learn about the islandÂ’s history and current development. Then enjoy three hours of free time at Crystal Beach. Snorkeling gear, lunch at the beach, and hotel pickup and drop-off are included.
After hotel pickup in Freeport, head to the starting point of your scooter tour where you’ll receive a helmet and listen to a short overview of scooter safety. Then hop on your scooter — either in the driver’s seat or as a passenger — and take off with your guide.
Your 22-mile (35-km) ride takes you around Freeport, Lucaya and the surrounding areas, through small villages where locals live and past attractions like the Lucaya Lighthouse, Hawksbill Creek, the Blue Hole, Fern Gully and Mermaid Pond, a mysterious body of fresh water where seawater is thought to be naturally filtered. Stop at each site to take photos and listen to commentary from your guide about Grand BahamaÂ’s history, culture and development.
When you arrive at Crystal Beach on the southwest coast of the island, hop off your scooter for three hours of free time. Stretch out on the soft white sand, go snorkeling in the crystal-clear water (equipment provided) and enjoy lunch on the beach. A bit off the beaten path, Crystal Beach offers fewer crowds than FreeportÂ’s central beaches, as well as access to DeadmanÂ’s Reef, where you can snorkel with turtles and tropical fish. A beach bar is available to purchase beer or other drinks (own expense).
At the end of your beach time, head back to your scooter starting point for the transfer back to your Freeport hotel.
