At midday, you’re free to discover Capri’s delights on your own: ride a motorboat to the dazzling Blue Grotto, take a chairlift to Mt Solaro or relax on a boat trip around the island. End with a walking tour of Capri town and an optional visit to the Gardens of Augustus, which boasts sweeping island views of the Gulf of Naples. Entrance tickets not included. Meet your guide at the port for your half-day, semi-guided tour of the Island of Capri. Board the 20-passenger coach and start with a drive along a road you may recognize from the movie Mamma Mia!, which clings to the hillside over the Gulf of Naples.
Your first stop is the lovely village of Anacapri. Follow your guide on a walk along Via San Michele to the village’s most significant site and one of Capri’s most-visited attractions, the Villa San Michele. The dream home of the famous Swedish doctor Axel Munthe, this must-see villa was built on the ruins of an ancient chapel dedicated to San Michele, and gazes over the whole Island of Capri and the Gulf of Naples.
Explore inside if you'd like (own expense), followed by free time at your leisure. Have lunch and enjoy optional activities such as a motorboat tour to the dazzling Blue Grotto, a chairlift ride to Mt Solaro or a boat trip around the island (own expense). Your guide will be happy to give you recommendations and directions for the independent portion of your tour.
Meet your guide again in the afternoon and drive to the town of Capri for a walking tour to learn about the history of the island. Enjoy an optional visit (own expense) inside the impressive Gardens of Augustus, designed in terraces overlooking the sea and considered a testament to the rich flora of the island. Here, you’ll be treated to a panoramic view of Capri, from Mt Solaro to the Bay of Marina Piccola to the Faraglioni islands.
After your visit, board the coach and drive back to the Marina Grande port. Your tour concludes here, or you have the option of boarding a hydrofoil boat to Naples for your next adventure.
