Horseback Riding Adventure from MedellÃn

Cross creeks and journey into dense forests in the central Andes mountains on a pleasant 2-hour guided horseback ride. On this half-day excursion, just outside of MedellÃn, your trusty steed clops along at a steady pace that is suitable for both first-time and experienced riders. Along the way, you can stop to snap pictures of the Colombian hillsides and backcountry, and keep your eyes peeled for parrots, monkeys and macaws. Bonus: Transport from MedellÃn hotels is included. After hotel pickup in MedellÃn, take a scenic 40-minute drive southeast of the city. Travel through Aburrá Valley, a natural basin of the MedellÃn River in the northern Andes mountains, stopping as you like to snap pictures.
Arrive at a local horse ranch in Llanogrande in eastern Antioquia, located south of José MarÃa Córdova International Airport in the central Andes mountains. Sip a welcome drink then learn basic horseback riding techniques from your expert guide. Your guide leads the way on a journey into the Colombian hillsides and backcountry. During your 2-hour trek, your horse crosses streams and clops along on both challenging terrain and flat trails. Stop to stretch your legs, purchase drinks and take pictures of the gorgeous scenery.
Admire emerald green mountains, and depending on your route, capture views of the hilly district of Rionegro, the Negro River and its tributaries and gorges. Your guide explains what you see along the way, including the wildlife.
A few monkeys may be carrying on antics in the lush forests that you pass through, and with 1,900 varieties of birds native to Colombia, you might just spot macaws and yellow parrots, or hummingbirds flitting about orchids and roses.
