With a guide and small group of up to 15, walk along scenic trails, marvel at the vivid turquoise lakes, and enjoy an electric boat ride as well as a panoramic bus or train tour.
Zagreb Walking Tour (Day 1; 1.5 Hours)
Meet your guide at JelaÄić Square (Trg Josipa JelaÄića) in Zagreb's lower town neighborhood, and then set off to explore the city.
Amble past the gleaming white facade of Zagreb Cathedral (Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary), and pose for photos by LotršÄak Tower, a fortified monument from which a cannon is fired each day. Learn, too, about the cityÂ’s affinity with the arts as you pass Galerija Klovićevi Dvori, a museum housed within an old Jesuit monastery.
Stroll along Strossmayer Promenade, the leafy terraced walkway that links Zagreb's lower town to its upper town; gaze in admiration at the Stone Gate, one of the city's prettiest landmarks; and visit Krvavi Most, unofficially (and confusingly) known as the ‘Bloody Bridge.’
After 1.5 hours, your tour concludes back at the original start point.
Small-Group Plitvice Lakes National Park Day Trip (Day 2; 11 Hours)
Begin with a pickup from your Zagreb hotel, and then travel to the UNESCO-listed Plitvice Lakes National Park, a postcard-perfect oasis of vivid green lakes, waterfalls and woodland.
On arrival, after roughly two hours, set off to explore with your guide. Walk amid beech, spruce and fir trees; admire the wild flowers that line the forest trails; and cross over the pretty wooden bridges for jaw-dropping lake panoramas. While the trails are steep and the 1.5-mile (2.4-km) route takes in some 300 steps, it is well worth it for the excellent vantage points.
Rest your legs with an electric boat ride on one of the lower lakes, and then continue your route on foot to the higher lakes. Then, dependent on your preferences, hop aboard a bus or train for a final panoramic tour of the park.
After, enjoy around 1.5 hours of free time for lunch (own expense) before returning to Zagreb, where you tour concludes with a hotel drop-off.
Please note: See the Itinerary section below for list of hotels that offer pickup and drop-off.
