Reykjavík Walking Tour
  • Overview

On the Reykjavík Walking Tour you will get to know the most northern capital city in the world.

Starting from the Hallgrímskirkja Church at the top of the down town hill, our tour starts with trip up the bell tower for an incredible view over the city and its colorful rooftops, the Faxaflói bay with its many islands and the surrounding mountains and volcanoes.

Afterwards we will visit the statue garden of Einar Jónsson and learn about the norse god myths before walking through the streets of Thingholt hill towards the Reykjavik City Pond. We will feed the many ducks, geese and swans that swarm the northern end of the pond, great fun for kids and grown ups alike.

Continuing across the pond into City Hall we will visit the super sized topographical map of Iceland as your guide will explain a little bit about Iceland's fascinating geology and volcanic history. Our tour then threads the heart of the city taking in the parliament, our modest cathedral and the site of the first houses in the city before visiting the Old Harbour.

Walking the north shore walkway from the harbour we will visit the impressive Harpa Concert Hall before our final stop at the Sólfar sculpture, overlooking the Bay and the Esja mountain beyond the waters.
