This 8-hour tour includes various walks on very loose surface, high steps with some steep descents and ascents. Meet the locals and enjoy breathtaking views for photo stops. Lunch will also be included with light refreshments.

The slopes of Jebel Shams is the place to go for a cool day out. Really high mountain peaks are cut into by steep valleys which in Oman are called Wadis, the one you will see today is a kilometer high from its bottom to top. On this trip you will go into the great chain of mountains in northern Oman which are many hundreds of kilometers long. The life style here is limited by the availability of water and so Goat herding has been the traditional way of life and the goat hair is used to create woven products which you can buy as a souvenir. Look out for a few small areas with farms, they use water from tiny springs, just above the fields. From the hotel we will drive through dramatic scenery before entering the great canyon of Wadi Nekhar. In places this is only just wide enough for the vehicle to pass, in others it opens up to grand vistas including to cliff edge above. This cliff is where we will take you next as we will drive up to 2,000 meters above sea level. The views cover a wide area and a walk along the edge of the wadi is a great way to see more. After lunch we can visit one of the small farming villages and enjoy a walk along a gentle Wadi with old abandoned houses and a small date oasis. Coffee and dates can be enjoyed before the drive back to the hotel.
