Truffle Hunting and Barolo tasting including transport
- Overview
Embark on a half-day excursion (up to 4 hours) with a local guide. Discover the two most renowned, precious and famous products of Piemonte: truffles and Barolo wine. Meet the truffle hunter and his dog to see with your eyes how truffles are found. Then continue into a Barolo winery to sample 3 wines and to visit the wine cellar. Drive from Alba (or from your hotel, if located within the surrounding area) to meet the truffle hunter and his inseparable dog in an easily accessible wood. Discover how and where truffles are found, which kind of tree produce white or black truffle, and see with your eyes the strong relation between the hunter and the dog obtained with years of training. The local guide will assist you in helping translate your questions to the truffle hunter. Later, drive to the heart of production of Barolo wine where the guide will tell you about the unique soil composition and conformation of the so-called "Langhe" hills. Step in a local family run winery to see how the wine is produced and aged. A tasting of three wines, including Barolo, will end our excursion before going back to the starting point.
