Paris Day Trip to Giverny and Auvers sur Oise
- Overview
Enjoy this day trip from Paris to Giverny and Auvers sur Oise and walk in the footsteps of two iconic painters: Claude Monet and Vincent Van Gogh. The tour departs from your hotel or apartment in Paris. You will get on a minibus (Wifi and educational tablets available) and head to Giverny. There you will visit the garden and house of Claude Monet. Discover the secrets of one of the founders and leaders of Impressionism. The artist turned a Norman orchard in a lavish garden with thousands of colors: Japanese cherry trees, nasturtium parterre of tulips, roses, every season of his fire-colored fireworks. Stroll through the romantic water garden, where you will find the Japanese bridge, the wisteria, the famous lily-pond, weeping willows and irises.
Apart from the gardens you can also visit the charming pink house and immerse yourself in the daily life of the artist surrounded by his eight children: the reading room, office, dining room and attractive kitchen. Admire his collection of Japanese prints, another source of inspiration. You will also visit the large workshop which saw the birth of the famous paintings of water-lilies.
Your last stop in Giverny will be the Impressionism Museum showing the history of the movement. You will then have a lunch in a charming place in Giverny, before heading to Auvers-sur-Oise.
There, you can walk in the footsteps of Vincent Van Gogh and search for the inspiration of his paintings: the wheat fields, the famous church, his room at Auberge Ravoux, the twin graves of the Van Gogh brothers. After your visit, you will return back to Paris by minibus.
