Glacier Walk in Vatnajökull National Park, with a local guide. Great opportunity to enjoy the stunning landscape in the surrounding area of Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon.The tour starts at Hali Country Hotel reception (Þórbergssetur) where you meet your local guide. From there the guide drive you on a 4x4 jeep to the glacier area where you take a short Zodiac boat ride to the glacier. Then you will be provided crampons, helmets and an ice axes. We walk on the glacier for 1 – 1.5hrs exploring and enjoying the glacier. In this glacier walk with a local guide from Hali you experience the wonders of Vatnajokull glacier, Europe’s largest ice cap. Our local guide takes you on an unforgettable journey on Breiðamerkurjokull one of Vatnajokull biggest outlet glacier. The trip starts at Hali reception, where your guide drives you to the glacier area. Due to the changes of the glacier we take a short boat trip from where we park the car where everyone gets there lifejacket before jumping on board. There we sail a short distance where the glacier walk starts. From there we walk on the glacier on crampons with ice axe in hand for 1 – 1.5 hours on the glacier. As we walk in the stunning surrounding of Vatnajokull National Park with so many unique picture moments our guide takes you through the regions history from the settlement until our times. The tour is intended for those who want to spent half a day outside walking, talking and enjoying the unforgettable landscape in the surrounding of Jökulsárlón. The tour can take between 3 – 4 hours (on the glacier 1 – 1.5 hour ) , including drive back and forth from our pick up location at Hali Country Hotel reception.
Provided equipment: Crampons, helmet and an ice axe.
Needed equipment: Good shoes, (Hiking boots if you have) and clothing based on weather, it is also recommended that a camera is brought along for the tour.
