McArthur Monument in Jayapura City
Jayapura City is the capital Papua Province. The question is what tourists can enjoy there. For those who love history, there is McArthur Monument, which was built to commemorate a legendary general called Douglas McArthur during the World War II. It is true Papua Island became one of the locations of battles between Nippon and Allies. The monument also becomes a symbol of the entry of Allies Army in Papua. It was in 1944. They came to Papua to deal with Japan, who ruled the area and Filipina at the time. Today, the monument becomes an interesting vacation spot for tourists.

How to Get There
The monument is located in Sentani District. For outsiders, they need to take an airplane to Sentani Airport and take a local transportation service to the location. From the airport, it takes about 15-30 minutes to the monument. There is no entry fee to witness the monument, actually.
