Jan 29, 2009 - I just spent two weeks there about three weeks ago. I had visited Samosir for the first time in 1982 and I was very happy to see it unchanged 25 years later. I ate mostly at Burana's. The food was so good there ! :))

And try the food at the Boruna restaurant, 20m away from Samosir Cottages, taste real good. If you smoke, you can get 500gr of local tobacco for $2.50 at the Parapat market on saturdays. Finally, if quiet is what you're seaking, get the matrimonial suite (although it's got problem of water) and not a bungalow near the lake. The noisiest days are during week-ends and public holidays.

Jul 27, 2009 - Hi Eunice; I was replying to FallsBoyzz's racial supremacist comments and strange idea of racial purity. It's a good idea to examine travel advisory notices with some caution. They often reflect the philosophies of the countries issuing them rather than the current risk-levels. Notice that after 11/09/01 we were told "go to the US, or the terrorists have won", but after the Bali and JKT bombs we are told to stay away. My point was if a person is racist, it's better they stay home.
