Tolitoli

Toli-Toli or Tolitoli regency is one of regencies in Central Sulawesi. The capital city is located in Tolitoli city. Under the Law no. 51 In 1999 this area is divided into two districts; Tolitoli as the parent district, and Buol District as a result of splitting the district.

According to the folk legend, the name Tolitoli comes from the word Totolu, which means Three. Tolitoli nation comes from three heaven men who incarnates to earth through Olisan Bulan (Golden Bamboo), Bumbung Lanjat (Langsat Peak Tree), and Ue Saka (A kind of rattan). The incarnation of Olisan Bulan known as the Tau Dei Baolan or Tamadika Baolan, the incarnates through Ue Saka, known as Tau Dei Galang or Tamadika Dei Galang. While a daughter who was incarnated as Bumbung Lanjat known as Boki Bulan.

Later on, the name Totolu changed to tontoli as written in the Lange-Contrack July 5, 1858 the parties signed by the Netherlands, between Dirk Francois with King Bantilan Syaifudin. Year 1918 turned into Tolitoli as seen in the Verklaring Korte writing , which signed by Raja Haji Mohammad Ali with the Dutch government, based in Nalu.

Tolitoli is a producer of spices such as cloves, copra and cocoa are high quality. In addition, Tolitoli also rich in marine products (fish, seaweed, etc.) because it is located in the coastal areas. Tolitoli now is in the process of doing international trade known as TOTATA (Tolitoli-Tarakan-Tawao) and TOSAMIN (Tolitoli-Sabah-Mindanao).

Tolitoli has number of destination that ready to be explores like Lalos beach, Tende beach, Sabang beach, Taragusung beach, Dolangan island, Dermaga Batu beach, Maleo bird conservation, Egg island, Kolasi waterfall, Sigelan waterfall, Masigi traditional hall, Tolitoli King graveyard, Lorenz hot spring and many more.

Toli-Toli tribes are classified into the Tomini and they classified as isolated tribe. they live in the rugged highlands and there are lowlands located along the coast of Toli-Toli. The language in everyday speaking is language of Toli-Toli. The Tolitoli people are producer of cloves, as well as farming, fishing and looking for forest products.
