    Vihara Avalokitesvara, Place of the Largest Kwan Im in Southeast Asia



    Vihara Avalokitesvara in Pematang Siantar is a place of worship for Buddhists. On the field of vihara there is a statue of Kwan Im Goddess that very large, reportedly the statue is the largest Kwan Im goddess in Indonesia, even in Southeast Asia which has a height of about 22.8 meters. Not surprisingly, this statue from a distance could be seen.

    Kwan Im splendor statue made of carved stone is also noted award from the Indonesian Record Museum. According to information, the sculpture was done for 3 years and was imported directly from China. Not far from the statue of Kwan Im, seen some sculptures lined up neatly on the various zodiac such as the tiger, rat, dragon, snake, goat, monkey, horse, chicken, rabbit, and others. There is also a large bell which add to the exotic temple.

    Vihara Avalokitesvara located in the heart of Pematang Siantar, precisely on Jalan Pane, Simalungun village, South Siantar district which can be easily reached due to its strategic location.

    Entering this monastery the visitors will feel the serenity and beauty of the atmosphere, coupled with the fish pond that surrounds the temple. For those who love photography, here the visitors can find some objects with an interesting landscape.
