Gili Meno Island, the Peaceful Island in Lombok

Gili Meno offers the beauty of underwater view. Many diving spot available here. Gili Meno is the smallest and the most peaceful among the other Gilis includes Gili Trawangan and Gili Air. The size of the island and exploration only takes a few miles in two until three hours. Gili Meno is the middle of three northwest coast Gilis. Gili Meno has a population of about 500 people, mainly concentrated on the centre of the island. Most residents live around the matrix of trails that make up the interior of the island. Tall palm trees provide shade away from the sand and finding a private stretch of secluded beach is not as difficult as it sounds. Electricity on Gili Meno is spotty but you may never notice! Many guest houses provide candles and cook with fire; island life goes on uninterrupted no matter what the generator is doing.

The main income comes from tourism, coconut plantation and fishing. On the west side of the island there is a small shallow lake that produces salt in the dry season. Until a few years ago there was also a small production of seaweed on the reef at the north end of the island. Gili Meno has swimming beaches all around the island, and a bird sanctuary. The most important thing, bring a glass of bottle is a necessary to do.

Gili Meno is the quietest and smallest of the islands with the crystal clear water and idyllic, secluded white beaches. There is no fresh water on the island and it has to be brought by boat from Lombok. There is also Turtle Independence Day on this island. The community calls Gili Meno Wall for this event. This island is also a home for many birds. Those birds live in Gili Meno Bird Park, which stands in the center of village. Gili Meno is often overlooked by travelers that divide their island time between Gili Air and Gili Trawangan.
