In Yogyakarta, there are water hot spring tourist attraction named Parang Wedang hot springs is located in Parangtritis, Bantul, Yogyakarta. It is the meeting point of two plates that resulted in hot water springs. Water from Parang Wedang springs is hot with high chemical concentrations. But strangely, with no sulfuric content.

Parang Wedang hot spring was built when Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono VI became the king of Yogyakarta. There are three springs which each has a depth of about 10 meters. The name Parang Wedang is derived from the word Parang in the Javanese language, which means rock and Wedang which means hot water. Meanwhile, the hot water keeps coming out of Parang Wedang until now.

The hot springs that gush out hot water of the earth, cover an area of 1140 m2. The facilities available here are pools of hot water with the size of 9x8 m. There are 6 bathrooms with hot water available, and another 6 with fresh water. Parang Wedang is known as special bathing place since the water is said to have efficacy for skin problems, stroke and arthritis. No wonder this place is visited by many, especially by "patients" or sick people from various cities in Indonesia.

The location of Parang Wedang Special Bath Pool is not far from Parangtritis Beach, only a few meters from the entrance to the well known tourist spot. From Yogyakarta it is approximately 30 km, and can be reached within 1 hour by car. By the way, for a car you need to pay entrance fee Rp. 5000, and for motorcycle Rp. 2000, while for visitors, each person is charged with Rp 3,000 . As for the bath and soak each visitor just needs to pay Rp. 4000 with no specified time limit. Parang Wedang Baths opens from 6 am to 6 pm.
