    Sembilang National Park, Mangrove Forest Banyuasin - South Sumatra



    Sembilang National Park is representative of peat swamp forests, freshwater swamp forests, and riparian forest (river) in South Sumatra Province.

    Existing plant on the mainland and the waters are characterized by the existence of the elephant nail (Acrostichum aureum), Nipah (Nypa fruticans), sea pine (Casuarina equisetifolia), pandan (Pandanus tectorius), sea hibiscus (Hibiscus tiliaceus), Nibung (Oncosperma tigillaria), jelutung (Dyera costulata), menggeris (Koompassia excelsa), Gelam rats (Syzygium inophylla), Rhizophora sp., Sonneratia alba, and Bruguiera gimnorrhiza.

    Coastal areas / forest especially in Sembilang and Banyuasin Peninsula is the habitat of Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae), Sumatran elephant (Elephas maximus sumatranus), tapirs (Tapirus indicus), gibbon (Hylobates syndactylus syndactylus), cats, goldfish (Catopuma temminckii temminckii) , sambar deer (Cervus unicolor equinus), crocodile (Crocodylus porosus), monitor lizards (Varanus Salvator), fish Sembilang (Plotusus canius), turtles, large turtles (Chitra indica), fresh-water dolphin (Orcaella brevirostris), and various types of birds.

    Thousands and even tens of thousands of migratory birds from Siberia can be seen in Sembilang which reached its peak in October. This is an interesting attraction for migratory birds were observed, because it can directly hear the roar of the birds are flying together and cover up the sound waves Bangka Strait.

    Other bird species that exist as blekok asia (Limnodromus semipalmatus), Sandpipers leopard (Pseudototanus guttifer), white pelican (Pelecanus onocrotalus), white bluwok (Mycteria cinerea), stork tom-tom (Leptoptilos javanicus), sea virgin white wings (Chlidonias leucoptera), and others.

    Northwest side Sembilang National Park directly adjacent to the National Park Berbak located in Jambi Province.
