    Kasongan, The Center Of Ceramic & Pottery Handicraft, Yogyakarta - Central Java

    Kasongan is an area in the southern Yogyakarta and is one of the famous tourist destination that popular with pottery production. This place is exactly located in the hamlet Kajen, Bangunjiwo village, Kasihan sub-district, Bantul, Yogyakarta. Kasongan is a residential area of the Kundi, that means the pitcher or people who make similar to pitcher, Gendi, cauldrons and other kitchen utensil and decorative items )

    The craft of pottery is produced by the Society around the village with various motifs ( peacocks, dragons , roses and many others ), pots in various sizes, souvenirs, picture frames, wall hangings, furniture such as tables and chairs, etc. In times, the production is develop into varied products include artificial flowers from banana leaves, bamboo furnishings, mask, and many others. The quality of the products are undoubted, for it has been exported to foreign countries such as Europe and America.

    There are numbers of showroom filled with a variety of ceramic crafts. And if you are interested in seeing the manufacture of ceramics, tourists can visit some ceramic galleries that produce handicrafts, directly in their warehouse.
