    Korowai Tribes - Papua Indigenous

    Most of Papua indigenous are isolate themselves from the touch of mdernity. They living balance with the nature and still holding into strict custom and way of living, like their ancestors thought.

    One of Papuan that having impressive custom are Morotai Tribes, who live in southeastern Papua. Morotai Tribes was found the existence since 30 years ago and having population around 3.000 people. This isolated tribes are live in a tree house, that they called as Rumah Tinggi or High Home.

    They are great architect for their own, by having the ability to build a house in a peek of the tree, which is very impossible
    for modern people. Those tree houses are build in 35-50M above the ground, soaring so high, exceeding the top of the tree.

    They made that house for several reasons, like avoiding the mosquitoes and they believe they will avoiding any bad spirit that might be attack by having a house in high land.

    Morotai people made their houses by using Banyan tree, including the stairs. While the wall and the roof is made by sago palm tree. They binding every pieces of the material by using hemp rope in order to support the family member inside house. There are 10 members of family inside Rumah Tinggi, including their pet. That is why they need to make the house strong and tide perfectly. The richer of the family, the bigger of the house, including the living room and the hole as a kitchen.
