Kelimutu, The Three Color Lake on Flores - East Nusa Tenggara

The exotic of Flores, so far, is always enchanting for those who love to travel. The beach and the wild life is like the main magnet for this island that located in the eastern part of Indonesia. Some of popular destinations from this region are coming from Labuan Bajo and Komodo National Park, and those tourism objects are already admitted worldwide.

Instead of those two places, Flores is also has other uniqueness, that is Kelimutu National Park. At the peak of this national park there is the three colors crater lake. The changing colors from this lake is unpredictable; it sometimes blue, green, black, white, red or brownish.

The changing colors from the lakes is coming from the eruption of volcanic mountain at ancient times and it already explained scientifically. The changing is divided by some factors like the mineral, the water plan, the rocks under the crater and the sun lights. The tourists that give visit to this lake will see numbers of endemic plantation like Pine, redwood, ferns and edelweiss.

At early begin, the charm of this lake was no popular. It was Van Such Telen that popularized this Kelimutu lake on 1915. It became more popular on 1929, after a man names Y.Bouman describe this changing colors of this lake in his writing.

If you are really interested to the lake, there are still so many lakes that you can go even for doing some swimming on it, but of course Kelimutu you can not do it, the best recommended lake to be visited on Flores is Sano Ngoang volcanic lake on the west of Flores island near Labuan Bajo, as this lake is also known for one of the deepest lakes of the world, here you can do swimming and take a refreshing on the hot water just around the lake.

    Don't miss this place.
