Together with three other regencies, Pamekasan is regency in East Java that settled in Madura Island as well as Sampang, Bangkalan dan Sumenep. This regency has border with Java Ocean in north, Madura strait in south, Sampang in west and Sumenep in east.
Pamekasan is one of rich regencies in case of culture that inherited through times. The most popular traditional ceremony is Petik Laut ceremony and Karapan Sapi. Looking at the location that settled in archipelago, Pamekasan has several destinations in case of beaches and other area that worth to be explored.
Karapan SapiMadura Bull Race or popular with Karapan Sapi is a typical Madurese community event that held every year in August or September, and it will be compete again in the final event at the end of September or October. At Madura Bull Race, there are a jockey and 2 cows forced to run as fast as possible to the finish line. The jockey stands at the wooden train and control the motion of running bull. The path length of the race line is approximately 100 meters runway and takes place within a period of 10 seconds to 1 minute.
The Eternal FlameThis tourism object is located at Larangan Tokol village, Tlanakan district, about 4 km of Pamekasan city. It’s very beautiful especially during the night. This place has a big sulphur spring and has many natural flame sources that often are beneficial for national sport events. It is a hilly area with beautiful scenery and surrounded by a fertile fruit producing area. This tourism object is ever used to flame the fire of PON that held in 10 November Surabaya stadiums. The west side of this place is a hot water pool, about 100 m by foot. The western of this place there is Ki Muko grave. It was said that his stick can make the beautiful fire by stuck to the ground.
Batik MaduraThe writing Batik is one of the Madurese handicrafts, in Pamekasan particularly, this handicraft always makes a good progress from year to year. In 2000, batik business units reached 931 units and were supported by 1771 labor forces and the investment value amounting to Rp. 66.547.000. In batik centers the craftsmen can produce batik in various kinds, from bed cover, long cloth, sarong, dress, shirt, etc. As well as unbleached plain cloth material varies in accordance with the demand and need of the society from first-rate material, polisma, primissima to silk. The Madurese writing batik has superiority for having typical of unique character.
Arek LanchorArek Lanchor monument is a symbol of Pamekasan souldier during the fight against Dutch colony at ancient time. This monument is located in the heart of Pamekasan city, in the middle of a mosque and a church. Around the monument, we can sit and relax at the park that attached to the monument.
