Welcome to Jombang, The City of Santri in East Java
Jombang is regency that located in the middle of the province and it has border with Lamongan regency in north, Kediri in south, Mojokerto in east and Nganjuk in west. In the past, Jombang is playing importang role, especially during Majapahit kingdom. After the ruin of Majapahit, Islam spread its existence, and Jombang was one of the early spreading area.
Because Islam has spreading rapidly in Jombang, makes this city famous as Kota Santri or the city of Islam students. There are a lot of Pesantren or Islam boarding school.
In case of tourism, Jombang has number of natural tourism sites, either caves, waterfalls or temples.
Sigolo-golo CaveSigolo Golo cave, is located in Sranten sub-village, Panglungan village, Wonosalam district, Jombang regency. It can reach by using motorcycle or car, and to reach the cave it has to be walking. The cave has 9 meters high and 10 meters width. It is a very unique cave and seems like having a mystical atmosphere.
Tretes WaterfallTretes waterfall is the highest waterfall in East Java and it has 2 streams with 158 high and it lies in 1250 m above sea level. This waterfall is located in Raden Soeryo Forest Park in Jurug Guah Mountain, Anjasmoro Mt complex and part of conservation forest park that still genuine. This waterfall is administratively located in Tretes hamlet, Galengdowo village, Wonosalam sub-district. Geologically, this waterfall is the result of volcanic rock old quarter.
Sriti CaveGua Sriti or Sriti cave is lies on Wonosalam sub-district, Jombang, with an exotic view. This cave has stalagtite and stalagmite that crossing to each other. The visitors that come to this cave will enchanted by the natural view and the air that very refreshing.
Sendang MadeSendang Made or Made Lake has 8 x 11 meter wide and it located in Made village, Kudu sub-district. Local People believe that this place was the meditating site from Prabu Airlangga and his wife in order to avoid many enemies.
Arimbi TempleArimbi temple or Canungkup Pulo temple is located in Ngrimbi hamlet, Pulosari village, Bareng sub-district, Jombang. The name of this temple is taken from the Javanese puppet name goddess Arimbi, and she is also the wife of Raden Werkudoro. This Hindu temple was estimated build since 14 century in the reign of Majapahit kingdom as the representation from Tribuana Wijaya Tungga Dewi, the king that rule the Majapahit from 1328 – 1350 AD.
Mojowarno Eastern Javanese Christian ChurchGereja Kristen Jawi Wetan Mojowarno is the oldest eastern Javanese Christian Church in Indonesia that been build since 1845 and becomes the center of Christian development in Mojowarno and surrounding.
