Traditional all-male Dayakan 'trance-dancing' in Borobodur area, Central Java, Indonesia. For info or to visit contact:johnvale46@yahoo.com I travelled to Borobodur from Jogja by local bus. It's 42k's north, and takes about 1.5 hours. It can also be accessed from Solo, across the col (low point) between Mt. Merbabu and Mt. Merapi. They're Javanese locals. Some of these traditional dances are performed by 'professionals', others such as the 'trance-dancing' are done by everyday local guys. There's no alcohol allowed due to Islamic restrictions, so I think they get into these trances as a way of getting 'high'
